TALK + WORKSHOP DESIGN FOR DATA & HUMAN RIGHTS

w/ Caroline Sinders

Curious about how everyday AI-powered apps put human rights defenders and the rest of us in danger through surveillance and identity systems? Join the workshop “Design for Data Rights & Human Rights” to explore real-world harm cases, challenge traditional "safety" approaches, and discuss practical strategies for building AI systems that protect human + data rights.

This session is for you if:

  1. You want to understand how AI can pose real risks to vulnerable communities — and what to do about it
  2. You’re looking to learn more about data minimization, privacy-by-design principles, and Personally Identifiable Information protection </aside>

TALK FROM GENERATIVE TO REGENERATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

w/ Ola Bonati + Judith Veenkamp (Waag Futurelab)

In “From Generative to Regenerative Technologies,” Ola and Judith explore alternatives to the seemingly inescapable cycle of technological promises and the hidden costs of sustaining digital systems. This interactive talk zooms in on regenerativity and permacomputing in creative practice, inviting participants to engage with these ideas through a hands-on exercise.

This session is for you if:

  1. You’re curious about rethinking computing in the same ways permaculture rethinks agriculture
  2. You want build systems that are accessible, compatible, efficient, flexible, and resilient </aside>

WORKSHOP AI SABOTAGE LAB

w/ Maria Costa Graell, Joana Brisbe, Marta Handenawer of Domestic Data Streamers. This session is brought to you by ElisavaMaster in Applied AI for Arts and Design.

During the workshop “AI Sabotage Lab”, we’ll critically explore how artificial intelligence impacts cultural storytelling, focusing on the risks of narrative homogenization. Participants are invited to choose a folkloric story from their background and, by “misusing” AI, we’ll discover how it can unintentionally amplify universalising biases and categorise complex cultural narratives into simplified, homogeneous forms.

**What will we learn during this workshop?

  1. To explore different perspectives on how to create with these tools.
  2. To translate a typical folklore story from our own cultures into a new artistic format.

💻 Bring your laptop and your favourite local folklore and, if you want, a couple of pictures too. AI n00b (total beginner) friendly!
