The AIxDESIGN Festival: On Slow AI is a playful, three-day event that invites everyone—artists, designers, researchers, the people of Amsterdam and those passing by—to explore alternative ways of thinking about AI. Through vibrant exhibits, hands-on workshops, and insightful talks, the festival will push beyond mainstream tech-driven views, ensuring AI is by and for everyone—not just the experts.

The festival is a culmination of AIxDESIGN's 5-year journey exploring AI through the lenses of care, collaboration, and inclusion. This 3-day event offers a welcoming space for both industry professionals and curious minds to explore, collaborate, and shape the future of AI. It’s a chance to bring our virtual community of 8,000+ into the real world and set the stage for the next wave of pioneering work.
The narrative follows a flow we keep finding in our work and reasoning: ⛏️ From the deconstruction of dominant narratives and unpacking of the stories we’ve been told, 💭 to an active dreaming and collective re-imagination of what else is possible, 🧱 to the prototyping and manifestation of those ideas in practice. Or simply put: From dreams to practice.
We aim to cater to a range of visitors - making sure the critical AI ideas are accessible to AI n00bs and newbies to follow, and specific enough for us AI hotties, haters, and weirdos to get intrigued by and lost in. The program will include both hands-on and brains-on activities alongside opportunities to simply listen in and absorb, and spaces to hang out, and decompress.
